Reasons to keep the sink absolutely hygenically spotlessly clean while you cook -

1. Because Mom said so.*

2. So that when you spill your pasta in the sink, while cooking with injuries all over both hands, you don’t feel guilty about scooping up the pasta and putting it back in the hot water to sterilise it.

Fastidious people should avoid my chicken cacciatore tonight. Although it is good. Very good. But after all that, the pasta is overcooked…

* Quite fanatic about it too. Out of her four two elder children, one always had to be on sink-clearing duty while she cooked.

Hmmmm….. and we now hearing about how we must wash hands after dealing with chicken and use different cutting boards etc… but I always insisted on a clean kitchen while food is being prepared and cooked and that included the kitchen sink as dirty pots and pans bring flies and flies bring diseases especially in the tropics… we have no screen doors here …..Anyway when I the stove is turned off to signify cooking is finished then the oly things left to be washed would be spoon spoon rest….. Squeaky clean kitchen sink which is cleaned nowadays with white vinegar or Hydrogen peroxide and then water would be okay to pick up pasta which fell into it … I always clear sinks before draining pasta , rice, provisions or any such things…..

  8. Oh gosh my mother is/was the same way! The woman would bawl us out of the sink was not cleaned properly. I don’t have kids to bawl out because I would now do the same :)
