Cruises can be fun both on and off the ship, except when the ship is listing from side to side on choppy seas, and yes this does happen even on the big cruise lines. I know this from experience, it is also the day that they serve lobster...technically I should have come back from my cruise honeymoon and got a divorce since you know who had the lobster...anyway I digress.

The one thing about these cruise stops and the less than 12/24 hours to enjoy them is that you have to be able to pick the right tours or be adventurous to go off into the unknown. The drawback of the latter is that if they don't know you're with an authorised tour the ship will leave you without a backward glance.

Trinidad isn't that bad for tourist and especially for those on a cruise. What tourist experience and what residents live are usually different, but that would apply to any country. Tourists have less than 24 hours to see a country during a stop but I am sure they do enjoy their visit. Many tourist do come back.
