Sugar Cane Arrows

Getting closer to home…
This is one of the things I miss most about living in T&T – no matter how long the commute, I did like the drive home.

This may be a rare sight in the Caribbean from now on – a field of sugar cane in arrow. This for me as a child signaled the end of the year, the change of seasons, the beginning of crop time for us in the sugar cane belt. But sugar is an industry in danger in the West Indies – our economies were made dependent on it for the benefit of the colonisers and the new changes in the system will unsurprisingly also be for their benefit.
